Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Financial Year: 2024/2025
1. Introduction
Joalpe International B.V. (“the Company”) is committed to conducting its business in a responsible, ethical, and transparent manner. We acknowledge the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in today’s global economy and recognize our responsibility to prevent such practices within our own operations and throughout our supply chains.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the measures taken by Joalpe International B.V. during the financial year 2024/2025 to address and mitigate the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.
2. Our Business and Structure
Joalpe International B.V. is a private limited company incorporated in the Netherlands, with its headquarters located in Ederveen, the Netherlands.
The Company operates in the retail solutions sector, specializing in the production, distribution, design, and sale of shopfitting and retail display systems. Our operations and customer base are primarily located within Europe.
3. Supply Chains
Our supply chain includes the sourcing of wood, metal, and plastics, as well as related components, packaging, and logistics services. Our suppliers are based both in Europe and the Far East. While our direct suppliers are located in these regions, we recognize that the global sourcing of raw materials in these industries may present risks related to labor exploitation and human rights abuses.
4. Policies and Governance
Although the Company does not yet have a stand-alone Supplier Code of Conduct or a Whistleblowing Policy, we are committed to upholding high standards of integrity and compliance. To that end, we are in the process of implementing policies to ensure:
– Prohibition of forced, bonded, or compulsory labor.
– Prohibition of child labor.
– Fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for human rights.
– Zero tolerance of modern slavery and human trafficking in any part of our operations or supply chain.
5. Due Diligence Processes
To identify and mitigate the risks of modern slavery, we are establishing due diligence processes which include:
– Screening of suppliers for compliance with labor and human rights standards.
– Incorporating contractual clauses requiring suppliers to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and all relevant international standards.
– Conducting risk-based reviews, particularly for suppliers of raw materials such as wood, metal, and plastics.
6. Risk Assessment and Management
We have identified that the highest potential risks of modern slavery lie in the extraction and processing of raw materials (particularly metals and plastics). While our direct suppliers are European companies, we recognize that upstream supply chains may extend to higher-risk regions. We therefore prioritize supplier engagement and contractual enforcement to mitigate these risks.
7. Training and Awareness
Joalpe International B.V. is committed to raising awareness among its staff, particularly those involved in procurement, logistics, and supplier management. Training programs will be developed to ensure that employees understand the risks of modern slavery and know how to identify and escalate potential concerns.
8. Monitoring and Effectiveness
We will monitor the effectiveness of our actions through:
– Periodic reviews of supplier compliance.
– Internal reporting mechanisms to raise and address concerns.
– Annual review of this statement and our wider anti-slavery measures.
9. Approval
This statement has been approved by the Chief Commercial Officer of Joalpe International B.V. and will be reviewed and updated annually.
Signed,
Erik Gaasbeek
Chief Commercial Officer
Joalpe International B.V.
